January 26, 2004 Mildred B. Parker, 101, of DeRuyter and Truxton died Monday at the Martin Luther Home, Clinton. She was born in DeRuyter, attended DeRuyter School, DeRuyter Training Class and Cortland Normal School. She began teaching in rural schools, retiring in 1961 from DeRuyter Central School. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma National Honorary Teachers Sorority, N.Y.S. and retired teacher associations. She was a life member of the DeRuyter Seventh Day Baptist church serving as church clerk and organist Survivors: Daughter, Selma (Robert) Mickel of Clinton; son, Richard (Patricia) Blowers of St. James; step children, Eloise (Ward) Hill of Lincoln, NE; Robert (Phyllis) Parker, Ulster, PA; William (Lorraine) Parker, Lowman; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by first husband Oscar Blowers and second husband Harry Parker. Services: Friday at 4 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, DeRuyter. Calling hours Friday 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions: DeRuyter Historical Society.
