TUSCALOOSA Infant Michelle Ashley Smith, age 6 weeks, of Tuscaloosa, was carried to Heaven on angels' wings to be with her mother Ashley on Feb. 5, 2010. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at Moundville Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Community Baptist Church Cemetery with Northport Funeral & Cremation Services directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.She was preceded in death by her mother, Ashley Lauren Cunningham Smith, and her great-grandparents, Jimmy L. Massey and George C. McGuffey.Survivors include her father, Matthew Darby Smith; her brother, Austin Lee Smith; her grandparents, C. Randal (Teresa) Smith of Tuscaloosa, Pam Massey (Fred Robinson) of Northport, and Herman Cunningham and Carol Cunningham of Moundville; and her great-grandparents, Ruth Massey, Curtis and Linda Smith, Kenton Cunningham, Linda Cunningham, Bill and Joan Kocher of Michigan, and Ermie McGuffey of Tuscaloosa."In tears we saw you sinking, / And watched you pass away. / Our hearts were almost broken, / We wanted you to stay. / But when we saw you sleeping, / So peaceful, free from pain, / How could we wish you back with us, / to suffer that again. / It broke our hearts to lose you, / But you did not go alone, / For part of us went with you, / The day God took you home."
