->FARMINGTON -- Michael R. Alexander, 54, of Farmington, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at his home in Farmington, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.He was born on April 28, 1954, in Farmington, the son of Robert and Peggy (Kennedy) Alexander. He attended Farmington schools, graduating from Mt. Blue High School in 1972.Mike's greatest joy in life was time spent with his family, especially playing with his grandson, Jon Michael. He enjoyed the outdoors, being in the woods, snowmobiling, fishing trips to Canada and biking, particularly in the Trek Across Maine, which he was able to do for four years. He also enjoyed racing, cooking and carpentry. He took great pride in his work at E.L. Vining & Son and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Nancy (Worden) Alexander of Farmington, whom he married on June 2, 1984; his parents, Robert and Peggy Alexander of Farmington; his children, Jonathan Alexander and his wife, Angie, and their son, Jon Michael, of Farmington, Nicole Alexander and her fiance, Austin Harrell, of Farmington and Alexis Alexander of Farmington; his siblings, David and Wanda Alexander of Farmington, Larry Alexander and his wife, Diane, of Farmington, Randy Alexander and his wife, Annilise, of Germany, Wayne Alexander and his wife, Anna Jean, of Harrison, James Alexander and his wife, Kim, of Wilton, Carrie Alexander of Arizona and Dean Alexander and his partner, Clayton Easter, of Sabattus. He was predeceased by his first wife, Johanna Bogue, on Jan. 13, 1982.Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service & Remem-brance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington. Family and friends are invited to call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home.
