ALBANY Michael Preston Powers III, 44, died on September 4, 2004 suddenly at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Mike was born in Colo. on November 9, 1959 and spent his youth in a small town just outside of Portland, Ore. where he enjoyed playing football and snow skiing. As an adult, he ventured across the United States and arrived in Albany in 1993 in time for the Tulip Fest which became a favorite annual event for Mike. He briefly worked for Hewitts Garden Center in Latham and was a school bus driver for Northland Transportation in Scotia. Mike is survived by his sister, Laurie Porter and her husband Rich of Sarasota, Fla. Mike searched for almost 20 years in hopes of finding his family. Laurie and Mike finally were reunited last year. Mike also has three sisters, Karen, Robin and Ellen. And several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his very special friend, Carol Ryan of Niskayuna. Mike has finally found the peace that he was searching for his entire life. Those that knew Mike will miss him but are comforted by the fact that he is finally at rest. A special thanks is extended to the staff at Albany Medical Center who, with their help and understanding, allowed Mike to have a peaceful and dignified transition. A memorial service will be held for Mike's friends at a later date.
