PLYMOUTH Michael G. Anderson, 64, of Plymouth, passed away at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston on Thursday, July 24, 2008 from complications related to diabetes and heart disease. He was born on February 5, 1944 in Queens, New York to the late Emmett and Loretta (Dever) Anderson. Michael served in the Air Force and was in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. He has been a resident of Plymouth for over thirty years, most of which was spent at the family home on Montgomery Drive in West Plymouth. Michael was a caring husband, loving father, devoted brother, and an adored grandfather. He worked for most of his adult life in the flooring industry, as a salesman covering New England for Lees carpets, and most recently Shaw Industries. Michael spent his teen years caddying at Southward Ho Country Club on Long Island, NY, earning money to help support his parents and siblings. He instilled the value of hard work and education in all of his children, and exhibited a tireless work ethic that allowed him to far exceed the humble beginnings from which he was raised. Michael was an accomplished golfer and a member of the Plymouth Country Club for twenty five years. He enjoyed many competitive golf successes, including three holes-in-one, and loyally played weekend mornings in the Tass Group with many longtime friends. He also enjoyed gardening, and took great pride in caring for his (and his childrens) properties. Not withstanding, Michael had a wonderful sense of humor, and some of his fondest memories are the times spent laughing with friends and family. Michael leaves behind his wife of 38 years Suzanne (Dodge) of Plymouth, daughter Julie Washington of Portland, ME and sons Steven (and Rachel) of Falmouth, ME, Mark (and Melissa) of Plymouth and Derek (and Ingrid) of Plymouth. He is also survived by twin brother Peter Anderson of NY, brothers Robert Anderson of PA, Thomas Anderson of NY, and sister Judith Ciauri of TX. Michael also is survived by his grandchildren Brooke, Moriah, Reeve, Malik, Jack, Trevor and a seventh to be born August 1st, as well as numerous nieces and nephews that he held in loving regard. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours from 5-8 P.M. on Tuesday, July 29th at the Bartlett-Garrity Funeral Home, 338 Court Street (Rt. 3A), Plymouth. A funeral mass for Michael will be held Wednesday, July 30th at St. Mary's Church, 313 Court Street, Plymouth at 10:00 A.M. Burial information to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Michael's name to the American Diabetes Foundation at www.diabetes.org or American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 For directions or to send an online condolence, go to www.bartlettgarrity.com
