Michael-Donald-Grant III, son of Michael and Betsy, died at 39 years old.
1972 - 2012GRANT, Michael Donald III, age 39 on May 31st in Los Angeles from a cerebral hemorrhage and complications of liver disease. Actor,vocalist, songwriter, lyricist and sports fan. Loving son of Betsy & Michael Grant of Greenwich CT, brother of Andrew, Luke, and Bettina McCarthy, Uncle to Wim & Avery McCarthy and Godfather to Avery. Namesake of his grandfather, the late M. Donald Grant, co-founder of the NY Mets, he was a devoted follower of the club. He also adored NHL hockey and cheered for his adopted hometown team, the L.A. Kings. He attended Brunswick School, and Trinity-Pawling before graduating from Greenwich High School in 1991. He then was accepted for the two year program at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, and after completion toured the country as the Genie in a national production of "Aladdin." He then moved to L.A. and began actuating his life-long love affair with heavy metal music. As lead vocalist for the metal bands "Legend Maker," "Onward," and "Crescent Shield," he was known for his rich and powerful baritone and the passion of his delivery. He will also be remembered for his gift of comedy, his spot-on impressions of his friends and associates, his warm & gentle nature, and his consistent effort to create a smile on everyone he came upon. A memorial mass will be held at St. Michael's R.C. Church, 469 North St., Greenwich CT on Thursday, June 14th at 11:00 am.
