Michael A. Moriarty LUNENBURG Michael A. Moriarty, 17, of Lunenburg, died suddenly Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. Michael was born on December 10, 1992, beloved son of Joseph and Diana (Leander) Moriarty. Michael was a junior at St. Bernards Central Catholic High School. He was an 8th grade graduate of St. Leos School in Leominster in 2007. Michael will be greatly missed by his parents, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and pets, who loved him and were loved by him in return. Michael loved computers, music, traveling, talking on the phone with his aunts, spending time with his grandparents, having lunch with his grandmother, vacations, holidays, watching game shows, and relaxing at home with his loving family. While at St. Leos School, Michael participated on the boys basketball team and chess club. Michael won the school Spelling Bee as a sixth grader in 2005 and finished among the top ten contestants in the regional Spelling Bee that year. Michael taught himself how to play chess and became the school chess champion in 2006. Michael successfully completed Student Leadership Training in 2005 at Assumption College, Worcester, MA. Michael was selected to become a member of Rachels Challenge while at St. Bernards in 2009. Michael worked as an administrator at the St. Leos Church. He was an honors student who planned to attend college and become an accountant. Michael leaves his loving parents, Joseph and Diana (Leander) Moriarty, two sisters, Jennifer and Samantha Moriarty all of Lunenburg; His Paternal Grandparents, Joseph and Carol Moriarty of Leominster; his aunts; Donna (Moriarty) Allen of Belmont, Karen (Moriarty) Reddington of Northborough, Mass., his two aunts from Hawaii, Linda and Kelly Moriarty, Cheryl Dexter of Concord, Mass., his uncles, Carl and Ronald Leander of New Hampshire, and many cousins who all cared for him deeply. Michael was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Hugh and Priscilla (Leander) Bye. The funeral was held from the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg, on March 28, 2010, with a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Leos Church. Calling hours were Sunday, March 27, 2010. In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorial donations, which will be used to establish a scholarship fund, be made to the IC Federal Credit Union, 300 Bemis Rd., Fitchburg, MA 01420.
