NELSON, Melvin "Gregg" July 5, 1945 - Quantico, Virginia January 18, 2015 - Bragg Creek, AlbertaGregg passed away suddenly in Bragg Creek, Alberta on January 18, 2015. Gregg went to the University of Oregon on a scholarship and graduated with an MBA in 1968. After four years in Toronto with F.H. Hayhurst advertising agency, Gregg purchased a small business in Western Canada, Sharp's Theatre Supplies, and moved his family to Calgary in 1972. He was nominated twice by the Alberta Treasury Branch as Entrepreneur of the Year. In 2008, Gregg sold his company, Sharp's Audio- Visual, and retired to his ranch in Bragg Creek to raise Quarter horses with his wife. He was a member of Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club for over 40 years, an avid skier and racquetball player, and a bridge Life Master many times over, having competed nationally and internationally. He divided his time among family and friends, the ranch, his home at The Springs Golf and C.C. in Rancho Mirage, CA, and travelling extensively. He is missed by his family, many friends, colleagues and business associates. He is survived by his loving wife and high-school sweetheart, Memory Ann (Pilsbury), his four children, Kelly (Rosa), Tiffany (Rob), Kipp and Blair, and his four grandchildren, Makena, Orion, Siena, and India. He is also survived by his siblings, Terry, Steve (Edi), Deborah (Michael Goldberg), Martha (Don Grant), and Victoria (Ed Alm), as well as many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Blair Nelson of Saskatoon. An event celebrating Gregg's life is planned for later this summer; date, time and location to be determined. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to groups whose mission it is to save and protect the wild horse population in Alberta, or to one of your local animal rescue organizations. In living memory of Gregg Nelson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
