McCORKLE Jane Eugenia Johnson McCorkle, 98, died peacefully March 23, 2006. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Adolphus James McCorkle and her son, Thomas James McCorkle. A direct descendent of the pioneer Chatelaine and Jeansonne Families of Bay Hills Plantation, Louisiana. Jane was the Valedictorian of the 1924 class of Bunkie High School, and a graduate of Soul'e College New Orleans, LA. She was employed as an Accounting Associate by A&P Tea Co. Southeast Headquarters Jacksonville, Florida for 28 years. Jane was a charter member of the Begonia Circle of the Jacksonville Women's Garden Club. As an expert gardener she loved her flowers and plants. She is survived by her son and loving daughter-in-law, Allan and Rosemary McCorkle; three grandchildren, Holly McCorkle Jones (Gordon), Scott Allan McCorkle and K. Rae McCorkle Sultan (Edward III); three great-grandchildren, Sarah Jane Jones, Michael "Mac" McCorkle Jones and Ella Sultan, her oldest and dearest friend, "Gen" Hentz,and many other loving family members and friends. Jane was a member of the St. Matthews Catholic Church for many decades and was active in the "young at Heart" club. The family expresses it's heart felt thanks to Father Luke, Delores "Dee" Hagon, Margaret Brunson, Sandra Coleman, John and Anne McCraine of St. Matthews for their kindness to Jane. Many thanks to the staff of the 5th floor of Baptist South Hospital and Community Hospice Earl B. Hadlow Center who so tenderly treated her. Funeral services will be held 2PM Monday March 27, 2006 in the chapel at JACKSONVILLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME 111 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, Florida with Father Luke McLoughlin officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery.
