Maurice Lamperelli Jr. July 19, 1936 - August 1, 2008 NEW LONDON - -Maurice "Mike" Lamperelli Jr., 72, of 57 Westomere Terrace, formerly of San Diego, California, went peacefully home to God on Friday, August 1, 2008 at Bride Brook Health Center in East Lyme. He was born in Norwich, CT, on July 19, 1936, to the late Maurice M. Lamperelli Sr. and Violet Vars Lamperelli. He is survived by his friend and caregiver, Eleanor "Pinky" Woviotis of New London, his brother Michael H. Lamperelli and sister-in-law Gail Diehl Lamperelli of New London, and by his four loving children, Benai and Charise Lamperelli, of SanDiego, California, Dion Lamperelli of Nebraska and Sienna Lamperelli of South Royalton, Vermont. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many aunts, uncles and close friends on both coasts. Mike graduated from Saint Patrick's Parochial School and then Norwich Free Academy where he developed his appreciation for the arts. He started playing the saxophone in Lamperelli's Seven Brothers Orchestra from the time he was 11 years old. He served in the National Guard and was a barber in his father's barbershop and a musician in the family nightclub in New London until he moved to California when he was 25. It was there that he married and became a loving and caring father to his four children. He worked a variety of jobs to support his family over the decades in California, and became an enlightened man who made a great difference to those who knew him. He attended and led many seminars and was a certified hypnotist. He and his family lived in various parts of California over the years but he always returned to San Diego because of his love of the weather and the Pacific Ocean. He had only recently returned to Connecticut to live. His friends and family will miss his insight and uniqueness. He was truly loved by many. To honor his wishes his remains will be taken back to San Diego for burial. His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Thursday August 7, from 1pm to 1:45pm, followed by a memorial service there at 2pm.
