Baldwin - Maudie Mae Tench Carter, 70, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at a private health care facility. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia. Burial will be in Friendly Mission Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Stephens, Homer; two sons, Fred Carter Jr., Sacramento, Calif., and Len Carter, Lula; two sisters, Lurlene Meeks and Mary Wilson, both of Cornelia; two brothers, Harold Tench, South Carolina, and Willie Tench, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.Athens Banner-Herald, Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004
