Memorial Service for Mattie Mae Johnson, Desoto Street, Daytona Beach, who died February 26, 2007, at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 2, at the Gainous Funeral Home, 804 Dr. Mary Mcleod Blvd., Daytona Beach, with the Rev. Tommy Jordan Jr. officiating. Mattie was born in Waverly Hall, Ga., and moved to this area in 1950 from Columbus, Ga. She was a former member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Daytona Beach. She enjoyed watching TV and spending time with her family. She loved to encourage others, and always made people smile. Survivors include her daughter, Dorcas D. Leeks, Port Orange; son, Bentley Cody, Daytona Beach; granddaughter, Devona Leeks, Port Orange; nieces, Barbara Carter, Atlanta, Ga., Mary Ellison, La Grange, Ga.; great-niece, Winifred Daniels-Wilson, Atlanta, Ga; nephews, Rev. Grover Mitchell, Chicago Heights, Ill., Carter Mitchell, Waco, Texas; devoted friends, William Kelly, Ormond Beach, Dorothy Depass, Live Oak, Fla.; and a host of relatives and friends.
