Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Mattie Mae Hester Eaton, age 89, of Dahlonega. Mrs. Eaton passed away Monday, March 2, 2009, at Chestatee Regional Hospital following a period of declining health. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Stephen Gerrells officiating. Interment will follow in Town Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Eaton was born in Lumpkin County on Jan. 20, 1920, to James "Coot" Hester and Sara Ravan Hester. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Eaton is preceded in death by her husband, Garland Eaton; son, Vernon Eaton; and brothers, Willis Hester and Claude Hester; as well as sisters, Maude Hester and Amanda Hester. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Hayward Anderson of Dahlonega and Doris and Paul Norris, Dahlonega; daughter, Shirley Eaton, Dahlonega; sons, Randy Eaton, Gary Eaton and Hal Eaton, all of Dahlonega. Mrs. Eaton is also survived by her 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
