Mattie Lee Johnson WACISSA - Mattie Lee Johnson, 81, a retired housekeeper, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at her home. The service will be at 3 p.m. EDT Saturday at Beth Page Missionary Baptist Church in Wacissa, with the Rev. Isaac Manning Jr., pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Beth Page Cemetery. Viewing will be from 2 to 7:30 p.m. EDT Friday at Tillman Funeral Home in Monticello (850-997-5553) and from 1 p.m. EDT until the service at the church.A native and lifelong resident of Wacissa, Ms. Johnson was the surrogate mother to many neighborhood children. Among those who will miss her tenderness and her love are her four sons, Bernice Johnson of Wacissa, Melvin Johnson (and wife Linda) of Goldsboro, N.C., Christopher Johnson (and wife Dorothy) of Monticello and Tracy Johnson (and wife Gale) of Tallahassee; a nephew she raised as her own, Sonny Joe Johnson (and wife Gladys) of Tallahassee; her three daughters, Grace Johnson and Mavis Johnson, both of Wacissa, and Peggy Watkins (and husband Tim) of Monticello; 26 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.The family will be eternally grateful to the care provided their beloved mother by the Neighborhood Health Care Agency, Big Bend Hospice and by her personal caregiver and friend, Diane Jones.
