AUBURN - Mary L. (Charter) Johnson, 77, of Auburn, died June 17, 2013, at Villa Crest Healthcare Facility, after a period of declining health. Born in Raymond, NH on May 29, 1936, she was the daughter of Arthur and Mildred (Flanders) Charter. She resided in Auburn most of her life. Until her retirement, she was a surgical nurse at the Elliot Hospital for 25 years. A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, her family was the center of her life. She will be remembered for her selfless ways and sense of humor. She took great pleasure in spending time with her only grandson, Casey, who was her "sun and moon". She enjoyed cooking, dancing, playing the piano as well as caring for her pets. She was married 50 years to Charles F. Johnson, Sr. He died July 17, 2005. She was also predeceased by her son, Charles F. Johnson, Jr. who died in 1969; and a brother, Walter Charter; and a sister, Ruth Dubois. Family members include her daughter, Brenda Lee Nealon and her husband, Gregory Thomas of Auburn; her grandson, Casey Charles Nealon; her son, Duane Johnson of Littleton; her sister, Caroline Bishop of Ossipee; her brother, Arthur Charter of Kansas; many nieces and nephews. . Services: Following cremation, a memorial celebration of her life will be held Thursday, June 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union St., corner of Concord Street, Manchester, NH.
