HOPGOOD, MARY YVONNE "PETIE" - 76, of Wolfville died peacefully with her family and friends constantly at her side at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville on April 12th, 2005. Born in Sussex, New Brunswick on September 15th, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Andrew Ivan Miller "Zan" and Mildred Mary O'Connor (Miller) (Kelly). "Petie" is survived by her son "Brad" (Connie) Hopgood, Grandchildren Holly, Hayden and Brehannah all of Wolfville. Daughter Jane Miller (Alan Corkum) of Port Williams, Granddaughters Chelsea and Carrie Wright. Daughter Cathy Hopgood, Vancouver, B.C. Mary is also survived by her cousin Barbara Foster (Carl) of Darling's Island, N.B. Charles "Chuck" (Sue) Sullivan, Bill (Ann) Sullivan all of Saint John, N.B. and David Miller of Charleston, South Carolina, Cousin Ray (Henry) Miller and Miller cousins of St. Martin's By The Sea. Mary attended Dalhousie University and Maritime School of Business of Halifax, N.S. She then moved to Wolfville and operated a Rest Home for twenty years. With her hard work and dedication, loyalty and honesty and above all caring for others she will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her. "Petie" then moved to P.E.I. where she successfully ran ANCHORS AWAY Bed and Breakfast for many years. In "Petie's own words" "Prince Edward Island is heaven to me..." "Petie" better known as "Sweetie Petie" returned to Wolfville six years ago to be close to her family. She will be remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. "What a wonderful legacy she left us." Funeral Service for Mary will be held Saturday, April 16th, 2005 at the St. John's Anglican Church, 106 Main Street, Wolfville at 2:30. Rev. Cathy Lee Cunningham will officiate with interment at a later date in Sussex, N.B. Donations in memory may be made to the Margaret Salsman Cancer Care Patient Navigation Memorial Fund at the Valley Regional Hospital.
