HOOD, Mary Wynona Watkins, 89, wife of the late Rush Winslow HoodSr., passed away Monday, March 15, 2010, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Greenville County, S.C., December 13, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William Homer Watkins and Christine Haas Watkins. As a charter member of Boulevard Baptist Church, she was a member of the Adult V Sunday School Class, the Tuesday Morning Mission Group, and was active within her Circle Group. In earlier years, she was a Sunday school teacher and a vacation Bible school teacher. Additionally, she was a member of the Duke Power Retirees Club, a longtime member of the Mimosa Garden Club, a member of the Extension Service Homemakers Club, and a former member of the Pacesetters Square Dance Club. Survivors include her children, a son, Rush Winslow Hood Jr. and wife, Nancy Pritchett Hood, of Tampa; a daughter, Phyllis Hood Workman and husband, Fred Workman, of Anderson, S.C.; grand-children, Maloree Hood Barrett, Ryan Watkins Hood and Megan Elaine Workman; great-grand-children, Caleb Christian Harris and Rhys Wyatt Hood; and two brothers, Wendell Watkins of Easley, S.C., and Eugene Watkins of Greenville, S.C. She was also predeceased by one brother, William Watkins. The funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Boulevard Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Johnny F. McKinney and the Rev. Marcy Mynatt. A committal service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, S.C. The family is at the home, 2404 Lane Ave., Anderson, and will receive friends 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at The McDougald Funeral Home.
