Mary Idell White Smith, 83, widow of Samuel Wilson Smith, of 208 Lee St., died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at National Health Care, Clinton. Born in Whitwell, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Lafayette and Lillie Belle Griffith White. Survivors: A daughter, Patsy Simmons, of Clinton; a sister, Lillie Belle White Beeler, of Clinton; and three granddaughters. Service: 3 p.m. today at Central United Methodist Church.
