DALY, Sister Mary Theresa (Sister Mary of the Visitation) A Grey Sister of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke, Ontario, died in Ottawa Hospital on the 27th day of March, 2007 in the 74th year of her Religious Life. She leaves to mourn the members of her Religious Community, her brother Raymond (wife, Gertrude) her sister-in-law, Peggy Daly, devoted nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Predeceased by her parents, Michael James Daly and Catherine Donavan, her sister and brother, Mary and Joseph (twins) who died at birth, as well as her twin brothers Leo and Victor. Sister Mary was born on September 28th, 1915 in Wakefield, Quebec. She entered the Grey Sisters' Community on August 13th, 1933, pronouncing her final vows on July 27th 1938. Sister Mary's ministry began at St. Patrick's Home, Ottawa, caring for orphan children and the elderly residents. Other assignments led her to Windsor, St. Michael's College, Toronto, Laboratory work at the Pembroke General Hospital, as well as Sacristy duties at St. Teresa's Church in Ottawa. In 1958, Sister Mary was assigned to teach at the Chinese Catholic Centre, Vancouver, B.C., followed by a move, in 1960, to the Business Office at the Penetanguishene General Hospital where she served for the next six years. Sister Mary later ministered at O'Gorman High School, Timmins, Ontario, the Convent of Mary Immaculate in Pembroke, as well as at the Motherhouse as secretary and receptionist. In later years, Sister Mary volunteered in Pastoral Care at the Pembroke General Hospital until 1989 when, after a long and fruitful life, she retired from active ministry. In 2003, failing health necessitated a transfer to Shalom Residence in Pembroke. Resting at the Sarah Centre, 700 Mackay Street in Pembroke, Ontario, on Thursday, March 29th, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Special Vespers in the Chapel at 7:00 p.m. Liturgy of the Resurrection in the Marguerite Centre Chapel on Friday, March 30th, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Columba's Cemetery, Pembroke, Ontario.
