BURKE, Mary Thecla Dorothy Born September 19, 1930, Ottawa, ON. Died June 5, 2016, Victoria, B.C. Dorothy was daughter to the late Hugh John Burke, and the late Martha Vernon Burke (Armitage). She retired after 37 years from the Public Service of Canada. She spent time in the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, among others. Dorothy was pre-deceased by brothers Edward and Benjamin and sister Violet. She is survived by her sister-in-law Mary Burke, sister-in-law Jean Paczkowski, niece Doretta Ojeda, nephews Larry (Joe Sr), Peter, and Paul Burke, nephew Stephen, nieces Lesley and Katherine. Dorothy spent much of her leisure time painting, drawing, and sketching, as it was a great pastime for her. She also enjoyed sewing in her younger years. Raising cats were also a big part of her life, as she had a deep love for the felines. Many thanks go to the staff at both The Kensington Victoria and Parkwood Court. She will be fondly remembered. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Andrews Cathedral, 740 View Street, at 12noon on Friday June 10, 2016. She will be reunited with her family in Ottawa.
