MARY T. HAND (NEE McHUGH) Mary T. Hand (nee McHugh), 85, passed away September 4, 2012. Mary was a proud mother of Peter A. (Paula) Hand, Maria P. (the late Pat) McCarthy, Elizabeth I. (Jim) Van Tassel and Rose (Rob) Milkowski. She was a loving grandmother to James and Lauren Van Tassel, Deirdre McCarthy, and Sarah, Maggie and Allie Milkowski. Though hailing from Donegal, Mary's journey began in Belfast, Northern Ireland where she was born and raised. She travelled to America with two young children and two suitcases to rejoin her husband seeking opportunity for her family. She always welcomed you with a cup of tea, and an Irish biscuit where she would share a story and a good laugh. People loved her Irish brogue. Mary lived in Calumet City for many years and worked at Saint Margaret Hospital in Hammond. She will be missed by her friends in the Overseas Wives Club, her poker buddies, and all who knew her, but especially by her family. Visitation at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Road, Elmhurst, IL from 9:15 AM until time of prayers at 10:15 AM Friday, September 7, 2012 going to Visitation Church. Mass at 10:45 AM. Interment private.
