Mary Sue McGhee, 86, of West Frankfort, Illinois passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 7:15 p.m. at her residence.She was born July 21, 1928 in Salem, Illinois to Paul and Helen (Tucker) Calvert.She was a loving mother and grandmother; loved the outdoors and animals; played the violin and loved the Kentucky Derby; she was an avid reader and loved to do puzzles.She was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Downs; husband, Bill McGhee on January 9, 2012; parents; brother, Ernest Calvert; and sister, Peggy Castleberry.Survivors include her sons: Christopher McGhee of Benton and Matt McGhee of Atlanta, Illinois; daughters: Nancy Seibert of West Frankfort, Sally (Alan) Watson of St. Petersburg, Florida, Rosemary (Steve) Elam of West Frankfort, Theresa (Dan) Grant of Palmyra, Illinois, Priscilla (Steve) Matli of Palmyra, Illinois, and Bridget Herrell of West Frankfort; twenty grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. at St. John's Cemetery in West Frankfort, Illinois with Fr. Bill McGhee and Pastor Gail Stone officiating.Visitation will be Saturday, December 20, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois.Memorials may be made to Southern Illinois Hospice.
