Mary S. McDowell, 79, Punta Gorda, died June 29, 2005, at Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte. She was born March 2, 1926, in Sheffield, Pa. She worked as a bartender for the Elks Club. She was a Catholic. Survivors include a son, Robert Michael Camp of Punta Gorda; brothers Mike Sabat and Paul Sabat of Sheffield, Joey Sabat of Warren, Pa., and Tommy Sabat of Tampa; sisters Joanne Aplin of Lutz and Helen Moody of Chapel Hill; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Roberson Funeral Home, 215 Mary St., Punta Gorda. Paul Schelm Funeral Home in Port Charlotte is in charge.
