Mary S. Barrett, 93, of Concord, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Pleasant View Center following a period of declining health.Mary was born in Galway, Ireland on July 6, 1921, a daughter of Thomas and Julia (Mitchell) McLaughlin. Mary came to the United States as a young woman with her family in 1949. She worked as a housekeeper at Concord Hospital for over 25 years. She retired in 1983. She was an avid reader who enjoyed dancing, traveling and was a big Red Sox fan, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.Mary was predeceased by her husband, Michael Barrett in 1999; a son, Reverend Michael Stephen Barrett in 2000; and a brother, Thomas McLaughlin in 2009.She is survived by a son, Thomas J. Barrett and his wife, Maureen of Concord; a daughter, Mary B. Russell of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main St., Concord. Interment will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery.
