Obituary of Mary-Ruth Johnson


Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. today at the Perry Funeral Home chapel for Mrs. Mary Ruth Johnson, 79, Leesburg, who passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009, at her residence. The Revs. Mike Dover and Danny Flora officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cherokee Memory Gardens. Perry Funeral Home, directing.Mrs. Johnson was a native of Cherokee County, the daughter of the late J.T. and Sarah Roberts Igou and was a member of Slackland Baptist Church. She and her husband were owners of Johnson's Upholstery in North Gadsden for 15 years.She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Johnson Jr.; brothers, Bibb Igou, Hosmer Igou and Joe Wilson Igou; and sisters, Opal Shealy Smith, Estell Smith, Sammie Copeland and Lucille Jones.Mrs. Johnson is survived by her sons, Clyde LeDon (Joyce) Johnson, Leesburg, and David Dewayne (Darlene) Johnson, Fort Payne; daughter, Sandra (Ronny) Jones, Leesburg; grandchildren, Ben (Teresa) Johnson, Randal (Kelli) Davis, Russell (Jason) Payne, Perry (Angie) Fletcher, Brent (Jenny) Jones and Lorie (Brian) Smith; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.Memorials may be made to Slackland Baptist Church or flowers will be accepted.The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5 p.m. until the time of service.
