COOPERS MILLS -- Mary Pierce of Coopers Mills passed away Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.Born in Williamsville, Mass., on June 5, 1911, she was the daughter of David and Florence Gaffney.Mary moved to Dresden as a child and later to Edgecombe and Augusta. After marrying Walter Pierce, they moved to Coopers Mills.She was a ground observer for the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mary had also held the highest rank available with the Windsor Grange, master. For many years Mary bred Boston terriers. For more than 50 years she traveled to the fairs with her lunch wagon named "Pierce's Lunch." She also catered auctions all over the state. Mary also made and sold Christmas wreaths for more than 40 years.She was predeceased by her parents; her children, Keith Philip Pierce, Dorothy Pass, Laurence Parker and David Parker; her stepchildren, Beverly Winslow, Paul Pierce, Newton Pierce and Alden Pierce; her brothers, Harold and Lester; and her sister, Ethel.Mary is survived by her son, Roger Pierce and his companion, Carline Bellefleure, of Whitefield; her grandchildren, Todd Pierce and his wife, Lisa, of West Gardiner, Bub Pierce and his wife, Betty, of Windsor, Larry Dean and his wife, Wendy, of Augusta, Jean Labbe of Albion, Lois Doe and her husband, Chris, of Winslow, Tina of Gardiner and Corrine of Windsor; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Sam, Colt, Jeff, Mike, April and Dianna; and her great-great-grandchildren, Nathan, Ashley, Natasha, Jenniffer and Delany.Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, with a funeral service at 2 p.m. at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home-Gray Chapel, 207 Windsor Neck Road, Windsor. The Rev Jay Wilson will officiate the service.
