Mary Jane Pierce, 83, widow of Jon R. Pierce, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at National Health Care, Mauldin. Born in Columbus, Kan., she was the daughter of the late Jay and Mary Waller Cobb.Mrs. Pierce was a homemaker and a Catholic.Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Vince McNeese of Taylors; a son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Betty Pierce of Winder, Ga.; a granddaughter and her husband, Jackie and Keith Thompson and their children, Pierce and Claire Kelly and Collin Thompson, all of Acworth, Ga.; a sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Ed Rumage of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Robin Cobb of Columbus, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jay Cobb and a grandson, Justin Pierce.Memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 414-A Pettigru Street, Greenville, SC 29601.A memorial service will be held Monday, May 21, 2007, at noon in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with visitation following. Inurnment of her cremated remains, with those of her husband, will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
