Mary Pauline Taylor, 92, Springfield, died Monday, October 17, 2005, at Maranatha Village. She was born on August 30, 1913, in Benton County, Arkansas, the daughter of Arthur Jackson and Annie Elizabeth (Smith) Barker. She grew up in Greenfield with her parents and nine brothers and sisters. Pauline married Paul Sanford Taylor in 1932 when she moved to Springfield. She was a longtime member of Grant Avenue Baptist Church and worked in the Church day care center from many years. Pauline devoted her life to her family as wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. She worked for many years to insure that her two children had the opportunity to attend and graduate from college. She believed that baby sitting for her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren was a very high calling in her life. Pauline was a devoted, accomplished seamstress who handpieced and sewed many tens of quilts for family members and friends during her later years. The quilts were much sought after and Pauline never refused a request. They are treasured possessions still of all who received them. Pauline is survived by her brother, Arthur Barker, of Lockwood her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Elizabeth Taylor, of Jay, N.Y. her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Medley, of Springfield three grandchildren, Philip and David Taylor and Cynthia Ann Medley and two great-grandchildren, Brendan and David Taylor. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Paul S. Taylor and eight brothers and sisters. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2005, at 2 p.m. in Eastlawn Cemetery under the direction of Thieme-Shadel Funeral Service at Midtown.
