CSM Billy H. Rogers AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mary Paradise Rogers, 76, beloved of Billy H. Rogers, entered into our Heavenly Father's Arms on Friday, morning, November 16, 2007. CSM Billy H. (Bill) Rogers, 87, beloved of Mary Paradise Rogers, entered into our Heavenly Father's Arms on Tuesday afternoon, November 20, 2007. Mrs. Rogers was the daughter of the late Dewitt and Bessie F. Paradise and was born in Wilkes County, GA. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and retired from Augusta College, Augusta, GA, where she was an assistant to the Dean of Education. Mrs. Rogers was an avid gardener, enjoying membership in the local garden club, enjoyed golf and devoted time to her family, grandchildren, church and community. CSM Rogers was the son of the late Bon and Altha Rogers and was born in Mayfield, KY and had resided in Augusta since retiring from his Military service. He was a retired CSM with the US Army who served in WWII and Korea. CSM Rogers was awarded 2 Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Silver Star and Above and Beyond, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and numerous other medals. After retiring from the Military he was the Supervising Director of Security for Plant Vogtle. After retiring from Georgia Power, he continued his love of golf and devoted his time to his family, grandchildren, church and community. Family members include daughters: Patricia A. Moss; Carolyn Rogers Byrd; grandchildren: James Moss, Jr. (Lesa Moss), Thomas Moss, Montana Byrd; a great-grandson: Camden Carter; his children: Michael H. Rogers, Patricia A. Perry, Billie L. Pittman; Mrs. Roger's sister: Betsy Prince and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her sisters: Carolyn P. Jackson and Lucinda P. Spirey. Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his siblings: Dorothy Gherke and Jack Rogers. A Memorial Celebration Service for Mrs. Rogers will be held Saturday, December 1, 2007, at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son. A funeral service for CSM Rogers will also be held Saturday, December 1, 2007, at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park with full Military Honors. Memorials for Mrs. Rogers may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1899 Central Ave., Augusta, GA 30904.
