PIERCE _ Mary Noreen passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2004 at the age of 89, with her son and daughter by her side. Extendicare was her home for the past four months. She was wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was born to John and Margaret Anglesburg, January 31st, 1915 in Thompson, North Dakota. In 1915, along with her parents and five related families, she immigrated to Canada, settling in the Lintlaw area. Mom learned to work at an early age, due to the fact her mother passed away when Mom was 15 years old. Mom was an only child but had a wonderful childhood because of her many relatives and friends. She attended school in Lintlaw. Romance crept into her life and on June 5th, 1934 she married Norman Pierce in St. Theresa's Church, Lintlaw. There was always company in our home and always a lot to eat. Mom's favorite expression was "a little more won't hurt. " She loved to cook; she could sew, knit, and she taught herself to crochet. Her favorite past time was sitting in the rocking chair, talking on the phone. Our mother enjoyed people and had many friends, because she could communicate with anyone. Mom was involved in St. Theresa's C.W.L. Lintlaw, St. Elizabeth's C.W.L. west of Gravelbourg, and St. Joseph's C.W.L. Saskatoon. She was a member for over 50 years. Mom and Dad both bowled at the King George Bowling Lanes. She loved playing cards. In the 70's, Mom worked at the Army and Navy, as a cook at Sion Covenant, and she volunteered at the C.W.L. clothes depot. Mom and Dad enjoyed camping, especially at Green Water Lake north of Kelvington, and at the campgrounds in Lintlaw. Mom was involved in the Women's Institute (Home Makers) in Glen Bain. She will be missed by all who knew her the little lady with a sparkle in those beautiful blue eyes. She is survived by her son, Bernard "Bud " (Doreen) of Drumheller, AB; daughter, Donna (Vern) of Saskatoon, SK; three granddaughters, Linda Mann (Bruce) of Vancouver, BC, Cheryl Spak (Glen) of North Battleford, SK, and Debbie Kovalsky of Fort McMurray, AB; nine great grandchildren, Ryan (Theresa) and Amber Mann; Riley (Kyla), Alicia (Brian) and Jessica (Dayne) Spak; Carla, Brendon, Cindy and Shannon Kovalsky; sister-in-law, Eileen Bourget of Saskatoon, SK; brother-in-law, Jack Pierce of Edmonton, AB; and numerous nieces and nephews. Noreen was predeceased by her husband, Norman (1996); her parents, John (1937) and Margaret "Maggie " (1931) Anglesburg; and infant daughter, Theresa (1945). The Vigil of Prayers will be held on Thursday, September 23rd at 7:30 p.m. and the Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, September 24th at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church (8th Street E and Broadway Ave) with Rev. Father Ray Senger as Celebrant. There will be a family Graveside service to follow at Lintlaw Catholic Cemetery.
