Mary Ola Reynolds Miller, a lover of art and music and a friend to many, died Jan. 11, 2011, at her home in Panama City. She was 95.Mary Ola owned the Gallery of Art, where for the past four decades she worked tirelessly to bring local artists and their art together with Bay County residents and visitors. Born to John Marsh Reynolds and Mary Elizabeth Salls in Crescent City, Fla., Mary Ola graduated from Florida State College for Women in 1937. Between 1939 and 1945, she worked in Miami at Trinity Methodist Church where she served as the Director of Christian Education. While in Miami, she met Ed of Tampa, Fla. Upon receiving his call to service in 1942, Ed and Mary Ola hastened to marry before his departure to the Pacific front.In 1952, Ed and Mary Ola settled in Panama City and made their home on Bunkers Cove Road where they raised their two children, Ola Jane and Maxwell. Throughout her life, Mary Ola remained active in her church, First United Methodist, and provided her enthusiastic support to local artists, the Kaleidoscope theater, the Visual Arts Center and the Audubon Society.The oldest of four siblings, Mary Ola is survived by her sister, Minnie Jane Starks of Buffalo, N.Y.; brother, John Reynolds of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two children, Ola Jane Gow of San Francisco, Calif., and Maxwell Miller of Panama City; four grandchildren, Starlett Mary Ola Miller, William Edward Gow, Edward Bruce Gow, and Maxwell Reynolds Gow; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, 903 E. Fourth St., with a reception and visitation to follow in the church's Community Life Center. A graveside service will be held Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, in Crescent City, Fla.
