Mary Nelson 1920 2007 Mary passed away Monday, January 1, 2007 at Stensrud Lodge in Saskatoon. She was born April 7, 1920 on the family farm, 16 miles west of Langham the 4th child of Jacob and Anna Wurtz. She took her schooling at Eagle Point country school. She left home at the age 17 to work as a mother's helper and later as a full time housekeeper. On March 28, 1944 she married Alex Nelson from Environ, SK. They farmed for 4 years then they moved to Saskatoon where Alex worked for the CNR. In 1969 they retired to Penticton, BC. Mary returned to Saskatoon in 1977 where she lived at various special care homes over the past 30 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Anna; parents-in-law, Jack and Ida Nelson; an infant daughter in 1949; husband, Alex in 1977; brothers, Walter, Jim (Winnie) Wurtz; sister, Mae (Frank) Janzen; and brother-in-law, Henry Mierau; as well as many relatives in the Nelson family. She is survived by brothers, Norm (Connie) Wurtz and sister, Bessie Wurtz of Saskatoon, SK and sister, Bertha Mierau of Medicine Hat, AB; and by many nieces and nephews and their families on the Wurtz and Nelson families. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at PARK FUNERAL CHAPEL, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK with interment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Greg Lalach, 244-2103.
