MARY NELLE BRISCOE INGLIS OLIVER Oliver, Mary Nelle Briscoe Inglis, 90 of Vero Beach, Florida passed away July 13, 2007, at Indian River Estates. She is survived by her devoted husband Sherrill Oliver, her son James (Jim) Harold Inglis (Donna) of Miami, Florida, her daughter Martha Elaine Inglis Spence (Hank) of Miami, Florida and Talladega, Alabama, and her five beloved granddaughters Tracy Katherine Spence of Baltimore, Maryland, Deborah Inglis Maddox (Greg) of Atlanta, Georgia, Susan Meredith Spence Denning (Michael) of Miami Springs, Florida, Linda Beth Inglis of Atlanta, Georgia, Sarah Melissa Spence of Arlington, Virginia and great-grandchildren Ian James Maddox, Katherine Alexandra Denning, and Ruby Briscoe Maddox. She also had four step grandchildren Ellen Diresta, Atlanta Georgia, Jill Diresta, Atlanta, Georgia, Herman Knopf (Kristen – Tyler, Elise) of Columbia, S. Carolina, and Andrew Knopf (Jennifer -Mackenzie) of Orlando, Florida. She is also survived by nieces Dr. Carolyn Briscoe of Clemson, South Carolina, Marjorie Briscoe Bennett of Harlem, Georgia, nephew Dr. Donald Briscoe (Wanda) of Covington, Georgia, brother in law Idus A. Inglis (Jeanne) of San Juan Capistrano, California, and sister in law Margaret Inglis of Indianapolis, Indiana. She was predeceased by her first husband of 46 years Harold Simmons Inglis, two half brothers Ralph Briscoe and Sam Briscoe, and two half sisters Sara Frances Briscoe and Ona Kate Briscoe Lewis (George). Mary Nelle was born November 30, 1916 in Between, Georgia to Lemma Livingston Smith Briscoe and Homer Shaw Briscoe. She grew up in a loving home the youngest of five children in Monroe, Georgia. After receiving her teaching certificate from Georgia State College for Women she taught elementary school for two years. She met her first husband Harold S. Inglis while vacationing with her sister on Miami Beach in 1939. She was married June 9th 1940 and lived in Miami for 58 years before moving to Vero Beach. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Miami Springs for over 50 years and recently Vero Beach Presbyterian Church. She was also an active member of PEO an educational philanthropy for over 40 years. Mary Nelle was a devoted wife and mother and supported her first husband Harold Simmons Inglis for 46 years as he established and later expanded a successful business in Miami. She married her second husband Sherrill Oliver October 23, 1993 and has enjoyed a wonderful life with him traveling extensively and living in both Miami Springs, and Vero Beach. Her lifelong interests included church activities, entertaining friends, gardening, playing bridge, reading, and music. She became an avid fisherman in her later years and always enjoyed wildlife and being around the water. Her true passions were her family and friends and her greatest delight was being with them.. especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her wish would be that we love each other and preserve her life values - love of God, dedication to family, respect for others and appreciation for (the beautiful things in life). The Funeral service and burial will be held at the Ebenezer Methodist Church, Hollywood, Georgia. A memorial service will be held at Indian River Estates on Tuesday July 24, 2007. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Miami Springs, 301 Westward Drive, Miami Springs, Florida.33166.
