Mary Mills, born in 1922, spouse of Russell Mills, daughter of Daniel and Nellie, died on December 27, 2014 at 92 years old.
->Mary E. Mills SARATOGA SPRINGS - Mary E. Mills, 92, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga Springs, surrounded by her family. Born August 6, 1922 in Corinth, NY, she was the last of the Lehan clan, who were first generation Irish-American. She was the daughter of Daniel and Nellie (Bowler) Lehan of County Cork and County Kerry, Ireland, respectively, whose family residence was on 7th Street in Corinth, NY. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband Russell (Russ) Mills, son Richard Mills, three brothers Dan, John and Tom Lehan and her twin sister Margaret Moylan, all of Corinth Mary graduated from Corinth High School and in the fall of 1939 attended beauty school. She cut/set hair for customers, family and friends well into her eighties. During World War II she also worked for International Paper Company in Corinth. In 1946 she met Russell Mills at a dance and they were married a year later. She was a lifelong member of the Holy Mother and Child Parish in Corinth. She enjoyed bowling and golfing until her seventies. She also enjoyed her wonderful card club group that met on Monday evenings. Those left to cherish her memory are her surviving children, Dianne (Tad) Deuel of Wilton and Dan Mills of Corinth; her grandchildren Todd (Stephanie) Deuel of Lake Luzerne, Rachel (Michael) Backus of Saratoga Springs, and Jessica Mills of Stony Creek; her great-grandchildren Nevaeh Deuel of Lake Luzerne and Isabella Smith of Stony Creek, several nieces and nephews and many friends. There will be no calling hours. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 31, at 11:30am at the Holy Mother and Child Parish, 409 Palmer Avenue, Corinth with Father Kenneth Swain officiating. A reception to commemorate Mary’s life will be held immediately following the mass at her home on 350 Center St., Corinth. All are invited to attend. Burial and graveside services will be held in the spring at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Mary to either the Wesley Health Care Center or Hospice of Saratoga. Arrangements are under the direction of the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth. Heartfelt thanks to Ann, Dick and Ed Normile; Mary and Gene Perry and family; and Harold and Karen Lawson for the many delicious meals and wonderful times that enhanced her life in later years. Also, thank you to the caring staff of 4 Springs at Wesley as well as the outstanding staff of Hospice. A special thanks to Debbie, the caring nurse at Wesley who helped Mary’s family through her passing. Lastly, a very special thank you to her beloved son Dan who was her compassionate care giver for the last 15-plus years of her life. Every year on Christmas Day her extended family had a wonderful tradition of all celebrating their lives at her home. What a blessing that we have had such a close extended family. The Lehan clan is now once again all together – Rest in Peace.
