Mary Miller, born in 1920, daughter of G and Jane-Snidow, died on September 9, 2014. Please consult the obituary here:
Mary Watts O'Keeffe Miller January 13, 1920-September 9, 2014 St. Louis, Missouri Mary was born to G. Wharton and Jane Snidow O'Keeffe, and was raised in Bluefield, West Virginia. She graduated from Salem College in 1942. That same year she married her high school sweetheart, Joseph W. Bowman of Bluefield. Together they lived in many places including Japan during the occupation following World War II. In 1950 Major Bowman was killed in action on a bombing mission over North Korea. Mary married Lt Col. Emmet (Pete) H. Miller, Jr. in 1953. Together they lived many places including Saigon, Vietnam, and Abidjan, Ivory Coast while Pete served in the US Air Force. They retired to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where they lived for over 40 years. Pete died in 2008. She is survived by her nieces, Martha Brown (Brent) Mandry, Charlotte B. (John) Salozzo of St. Louis, Missouri, Alison Y. Brown (Brian Hoare) of San Clemente, California and Marjorie (Randy) Castleberry of New Bern, North Carolina and her nephews, John (Linda) O'Keeffe, Jr. of Raleigh, North Carolina, James (Dawn) O'Keeffe of Pasadena, California and Floyd W. (Olivia) Brown of Los Angeles, California and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers James, John and William O'Keeffe and her sister, Nancy O'Keeffe Brown. A graveside service will be held at Maplewood Cemetery, Tazewell, Virginia on October 11, 2014 at 2 pm. The family would appreciate memorial contributions to Boys Home of Virginia, 414 Boys Home Road, Covington, Virginia 24420.
