She was a native of Coffee County and lived most of her life in Rutherford County. Mary was a member of Southeast Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertie and Eunice Carter Roberts; husbands, Sammie David Newman and Harry Sewell Carter. Mary is survived by her sons, Larry Bruce Newman of Marietta, GA; Danny (Cathy) Newman of Donelson, TN; daughter, Linda Moore of Murfreesboro; brother, John Roberts of Mt. Juliet, TN; sister, Ann Farrar of Manchester; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.The chapel service for Mary will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Jennings & Ayers with Ronnie Meek and Joe Vinson officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in the Shelton Cemetery.Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday the 28th and Monday the 29th at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home, 820 South Church St., Murfreesboro, TN 37130. 615-893-2422.
