Mary Elizabeth Richey Martin, 77, of 200 Martin Lane, wife of David Osborne Martin, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.Born March 2, 1926, in Donalds, S.C., she was the daughter of the late William L. and Mary Newton Richey. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and received her master's degree from Clemson University. She was Emerti Associate Professor of Fashion Merchandising at Anderson College, where she was a faculty member for 40 years. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church.Surviving are her husband of 56 years, David O. Martin of the home; three daughters, Mary Carolyn Harris and her husband, John Robert Harris, their son, William Martin Harris, of Fair Play, and their daughter, Anne Elizabeth Harris Smith, and her husband James Wayne Smith, also of Fair Play, Ms. Emily Anne Martin of Anderson, Mrs. Sara Jane Martin Acevedo and husband Donald Acevedo and their children Virgil Martin Acevedo, Joshua Acevedo and Heather Albertson of Pendleton; and a son, David Charles Martin, and his wife Leesa Bowman Martin and their three children, Mary Lee Amanda Martin, Kathleen Elizabeth Martin and Samuel Richey Martin.Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, conducted by the Rev. William R. West, Dr. Jimmy Harley and the Rev. Mark Wise. Burial will be in Welcome Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the residence.
