ALICEVILLE Mary Margaret Sanders Goodwin, age 96, of Aliceville, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 26, 2010, at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Benevola with Dr. Vernon Blackburn and Rev. David Barrentine officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. at the old Goodwin home place, currently the home of Bill and Polly Goodwin, 224 Goodwin Road in Aliceville.She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Roy Elmore Goodwin; one son, Charles Goodwin and his wife, Bonnie, of Aliceville; and four brothers, Sam, Ralph, Ross and Robert Sanders.Survivors include her son, Ronald S. Goodwin (Patricia) of Sumter, S.C.; three grandchildren, Bill Goodwin (Polly) of Aliceville, Ala., Rhonda Goodwin Barkley (Terry) of Savannah, Ga., and Cary Goodwin (Sheri) of Savannah, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Will Goodwin, Brendon Goodwin, Matthew Williams, and Christina Hodge (Allen); one great-great-grandchild, William Allen Hodge, Jr.; many special friends; and nephew Donnie and Becky Sanders and Dot and David Barrentine, who were faithful to visit her every week and she loved them dearly. She is also survived by one precious person in her life, Johnnie Pearl Mustin, who was with her and Roy every day for 50 years. She cared for them and took care of them in a kind, loving way until Margaret went to the nursing home five years ago.Mrs. Goodwin was born November 11, 1913, in Benevola, Alabama to the late Samuel Leon Sanders and Nannie Elizabeth Craft Sanders. She was a member of Forrest Baptist Church, a homemaker and life long resident of Pickens County.Pallbearers will be Jimmy Craft, B.C. Patton, Will Goodwin, Mack Sanders, Jerry Sanders, and Donnie Sanders.We would like to thank all the nurses, aides, LPNs, and all workers of Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Margaret had several roommates whom she loved during her time there, the latest one being Dot McCaa, who treated her with gentle kindness and patience.
