Obituary of Mary-Margaret Carter


Mary Margaret Carter, 89, Commiskey, passed away at 8:18 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.Mrs. Carter was a homemaker who loved to cook and enjoyed teaching cooking to anyone who was willing to learn. She enjoyed gardening, working crossword and word search puzzles and spending time with her family.Born Nov. 19, 1921, in Index, Ky., she was the daughter of Jerry and Etta Elam Cooper, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Jesse Carter on March 8, 1941, in Commiskey, and he preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1957.Survivors include her three sons, Greg (Carla) Carter, Commiskey, Charles (Nancy) Carter, Crothersville, and Duane (LeEtta) Carter, Reddington; one daughter, Sheila (Roger) McIntosh, Deputy; one brother, Bill Cooper, Connersville; 10 grandchildren, Timmy Carter, Austin, Tammy (Todd) Killey, Sara (Erroll) Eisenhower, Staci (Jeremy) Peters and Christy (Brad) Nolan, all of Crothersville, Kevin (Amanda) Carter, Seymour, Jessica (Brad) Carter, Commiskey, Amanda (Derek) Kintner, North Vernon, Jason Carter, Clearwater, Fla., and Jennifer (Ryan) Tidd, Charleston, S.C; 16 great-grandchildren, Shane Carter and Brock and Isabella Kintner, all of North Vernon, Shawn and Seth Carter, Deputy, Linsey and Logan Carter, Seymour, Madison Eisenhower, Alli, Nikki and Hunter Nolan , Tyler, Trevor and Nate Peters, all of Crothersville, and Kayli and Claire Carter, both of Commiskey; and three great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Jerry and Charlie Cooper, and two sisters, Nell Aikman and Vickie Commer.The Rev. Damon Marling will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home, North Vernon. Burial will take place at Vernon Cemetery.Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.www.dovesharprudicel.com
