Mary MacLeod 1910 2012 Mary passed away peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2012 at her residence, Wheatland Lodge in Leask, SK, at the age of 101. Mary was born on the homestead south of Hafford, SK on July 24, 1910 to Michael and Paraska (Kindrachuk) Romanycia who had arrived in Canada from Ukraine in 1905. Mary married Leonard MacLeod on July 22, 1937 and they made their home in East Coulee, AB. They moved to Saskatoon in 1947, where Mary was employed in housekeeping at St. Paul's Hospital. In 1951 they began farming at Keatley, SK returning to Saskatoon in 1958. Mary, once again, worked at St. Paul's Hospital, until 1967. In 1968 she began working at Saskatoon City Hospital and was there until her retirement. Following Leonard's death, in 1987, Mary moved to Speers, SK to live with her son Alan, until her move to the Wheatland Lodge in Leask, SK in 2007. Mary had a strong work ethic, developed by working hard on the farm. She was a giving, caring person. She enjoyed gardening, especially growing flowers and her cabbage rolls and perogies, were excellent! Mary is survived by her sons, Alan of Speers, SK, Gerald (Louise) of Saskatoon, SK; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; one brother, William (Della) Romanycia of Detroit, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Leonard (1987); son, Michael (2002); daughter in law, Evelyn MacLeod (2010); sisters, Annie (John) Malarchuk, Blaine Lake, SK, Belle (Paul) Kozachuk, North Battleford, SK, Olga (Melvin) Alcock, Saskatoon, SK, Dorothy (George) Morphy, Sudbury, ON; and brother, Henry (Isabel) Romanycia, Windsor, ON. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Park Funeral Chapel (311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon), officiated by Pastor Rick Harwood. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations in Mary's honour, may be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice.
