Mary M. Smith, 68, Port Charlotte, died Oct. 28, 2002. She was born May 2, 1934, in Dimock, S.D. She attended Gulf Cove United Methodist Church in Englewood. Survivors include her husband, James; daughter Kimberley of Wauwatosa, Wis.; son Kip of Naperville, Ill.; sisters Mildred Thury, Helen Thury, Joan Fergen, Alice Lichter and Elinor Finkenbeiner; brother Lyle Wermers; and a grandchild. National Cremation Society, Port Charlotte chapter, is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
