Mary M. Martin, a lifetime resident of Peekskill, died on Thursday, September 30, 2004. She was 95 years old. Born in Peekskill on June 1, 1909, she was the daughter of Philip H. and Mary Tivnon Martin. In 1929 she graduated from the Stage University of New York at New Paltz. Miss Martin was a fifth grade teacher at the McKinley Street School, Peekskill, for over forty years, retiring in 1972. A communicant at Assumption Church, Peekskill, Miss Martin was also a longtime volunteer at the weekly church bingo. She also enjoyed her travels through the Caribbean and Europe. Surviving Miss Martin are her nephew Philip R. (Elizabeth) Martin, Jr., of Hyde Park, two great-nieces; Jennifer (John) Ruedebusch, Patricia (Norman) Ackley, and two great great-nephews, Joshua and Colby. A sister Catherine Martin and brother Philip R. Martin, Sr., predecease her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Assumption Church, Peekskill, at 11:15 AM on Tuesday, October 5, 2004, followed by interment, Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor, NY. Visiting at Dorsey-Carlone Funeral Home, Peekskill, on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
