Mary Louise Rebello, 88 PORTLAND -- Mary Louise Rebello, 88, of Portland died Feb. 10, 2009, at Mercy Hospital. She was born Oct. 16, 1920, in Portland, the daughter of Wilfred O. and Gertrude (McMennamin) Gardner. Mary was educated in local schools and attended St. Dominic's School. Mary was a communicant of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She was employed in a laundry in New Bedford, Mass. for over 30 years returning to Portland in the mid 1970s. She than went to work for the Cape Elizabeth Home for Women retiring in 1984. Mary was a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen and was a foster grandparent. Mary was granted her life long wish of riding a horse for the first time last summer at the age of 87 through the Portland Center for Assisted Living Resident Activity Program. Mary is predeceased by her parents; three sisters, Gertrude Welch in 1962, Rose E. Nealley in 1999, Elizabeth I Conley, in 2003; and a granddaughter, Donna Marie in 1995. Surviving are a daughter, Diane Cogliano of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Wilfred O. Gardner of Portland; and several nieces and nephews including Maureen Regan who tended to Mary's needs. Visitation will be held from 7:45-8:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, with prayers at 8:15 a.m. at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland followed by a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress St., Portland.
