Mary Louise Sprague passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 19. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 25, at 11 a.m. at Christ Church, 66 Highland Ave, Short Hills, N.J. 07078. Born in Orange, N.J., Mrs. Sprague was a longtime Short Hills resident. She graduated from Oberlin College, and received a Master of Arts degree in English from Columbia University. She was the owner of the Millburn Item for about 20 years starting in 1968. Predeceased by her husband, Wallace Arthur (1998), she is survived by her sons, Charles and his wife, Mary, and John and his wife, Dorothy; her three granddaughters, Martha, Catherine and Dorothy, and many loving relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested consideration of a gift in Mrs. Sprague's memory to The Pingry School, Martinsville, N.J., the school that educated her sons.
