Mary Louise Cooper, 83, of Leisure Village, Lakewood passed away on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 at Ocean Medical Center. Born in Woodbury, N.J., Mary Louise resided in Summit, East Orange and Clark before retiring to Leisure Village, Lakewood, in 1988. She graduated from Summit High School in 1944 and received her R.N. training at Overlook Hospital in Summit. She worked for allergist Dr. Alfred Gras and volunteered many summers at Camp Nejeda, a camp for children with diabetes in Stillwater, N.J. She retired from Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange in 1988. Mary Louise was an avid skier who loved to travel. She loved to swim and sail and spent many summers at her parent's beach cottage on Peconic Bay in Jamesport, Long Island, N.Y. Like her father and grandfather, Mary Louise had a lifelong passion for photography and was involved in the local camera club. Mary Louise was pre-deceased by her parents, James Wallace Cooper, Sr. and Mable Adams Cooper, as well as her brother, James Wallace Cooper, Jr. She is survived by her niece, Joanne Cooper Adams, and her husband, John; her nephew, James Wallace Cooper III and his wife, Sally; three grand-nephews, Stephen, Michael and Andrew, and a grand-niece Beth, and two great-grand-nieces, Lana and Natalie. A private family memorial is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary Louise's name to the Camp Nejeda Foundation.
