Mary Louise (VanTassel) Adams, 84, Duncan, Okla., died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, in Duncan. She was born on July 27, 1924 in Charleston, Ill., the daughter of Ivan Lester and Elsie Loretta (Tipsword) VanTassel. She married Fred R. Adams on May 6, 1941 at Scenic Overlook Mountain just outside of St. Louis, Miss.; he survives Mary attended Charleston grade school and graduated from Greenup High School in Greenup, Ill. She was a homemaker. As a volunteer, she assisted in conducting government server commodities food and housing programs. She was a member of Church of God General Conference Church. Also surviving are five daughters, Joan Elizabeth Adams, Santa Clarita, Calif., Ruth Louise (David Albert II) Franco, Bakersfield, Calif., Lydia Marie (Robert Leslie) Lucero, Aguanga, Calif., Mary Jeane (Alfred Ernest) Chappell, Lakeside, Calif., and Judith Irene (Douglas) Nolt, Ney, Ohio; three sons, David Lee (Diana) Adams, Lafayette., Stephen Elijah (Karen) Adams, Mountain Home, Ark., and Mark Allen (Wendy) Adams, Duncan, Okla.; one sister, Janet Ness, Yorkville, Ill.; two brothers, Ivan (Patsy) VanTassel, Marshall, Ill. and Dean VanTassel, Plainfield, Ill.; sixteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Paul Eugene Adams. Visitation is Sunday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, Duncan, Okla.
