MARY LOUELLA MITCHELL VALPARAISO, IN Mary Louella Mitchell, (nee Jensen), 94, of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013. Mary was born on Armistice Day, November 11, 1918 on the exact hour in Hanna, Indiana, the daughter of Carl and Rosa (Eisinger) Jensen. She grew up on a farm with her eight siblings. In 1941, she enjoyed her marriage with Ray Johnson until his death in 1957. In 1960, Mary married John Mitchell and they spent their years, traveling all 50 states in their motor home. Surviving are her daughters: Rosemary Kiersma of Demotte, Betty Troup of Valparaiso, Peggy (Dale) Sharpe of Valparaiso, and Edith (William) Pinnow of Plainfield, IL; 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and a sister, Lois Diedrich of LaPorte. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Raymond Johnson and John B. Mitchell; her parents; a son, Roy Johnson; a brother, Carl Jensen; and six sisters: Margaret Jensen, Dolma Golma, Ruth Dreasen, Lola Hembree, Wilda Wisler, and Alta Harness. Mary enjoyed cooking and gardening, birds and butterflies. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends during holidays and reunions. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 14, 2013 at 12:00 noon at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St., Valparaiso with Pastor Mike Eddy officiating. Burial at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
