HUGHES Mary Lou Morris Hughes, age 73, of Trumbull, formerly of Fairfield, devoted wife of the late John Hughes, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Saturday, October 6, 2007. Warm and loving memories of Mary Lou as a dedicated mother, involved and caring grandmother, and close friend will be embraced by those most important in her life including her children, Mark Hughes and dear friend, Joyce Palm, of Horsham, Pa., Thomas Hughes of Fairfield, Michael Hughes and his wife, Elaine, of Fort Collins, Colo., Catherine Hughes of Trumbull, Mary Corcoran and her husband, Chris, of Trumbull; grandchildren,Kristin Hughes, Benjamin and Nicholas Hughes, Jack, Matthew and Elizabeth Corcoran; sister-in-law, Lenore Carney of Florida; many friends including those especially supportive to Mary Lou during her illness, Joan Meszaros and Dolores Pagliaro, both of Fairfield. A devout catholic, she is joyously reunited with her husband, John, daughter, Elizabeth, and grandson, Tommy, all who predeceased her. Raised in Metropolis, Ill., Mary Lou moved to Fairfield with her husband in 1954. After a brief stay in Kentucky, she settled in Carmel Ridge Residence of St. Joseph's Manor in Trumbull and more recently with her daughter. Mary Lou possessed a wonderful ability to make those around feel welcome and at ease regardless of what might be taking place in her own life. Family vacations in New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Vermont, helping others in need, gardening and reading about her faith, all were sources of happiness for Mary Lou. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street Trumbull. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
