Mary Lillian Beck White Gordon, GA- Mary Lillian Beck White passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 1PM in the First Baptist Church in Gordon with Rev. Paul Curry and Rev. Maxie Threatt officiating. The Family will be at Williams White Columns Funeral Home of Gordon on Tuesday from 6PM to 8Pm to receive friends. Mrs. White was a retired educator/administrator for approximately 45 years. She was a graduate of Mercer University with a Bachelor of Elementary Education and a Masters degree in Secondary Education. She graduated from the University of Georgia with an Education Specialist degree. Mrs. White was a charter member of the Psi Gamma Chapter of Chi Omega at Mercer University and has worked at the State Department of Education as a consultant from 1980- 1991. Mrs. White was an active member of The First Baptist Church of Gordon where she taught Sunday School ages including Sunbeams, Vacation Bible School, College and Career Classes. She supported the Georgia Baptist and United Methodist Churches and served as Camp Counselor at Camp Pinnacle. Mrs. White was a very active member of DAR and served on the Gordon Library Board. She was an avid Bibliophile particularly of European History enjoying traveling especially to Israel, Egypt, and England. Survivors include her children and grandchildren whom Mrs. White loved spending time with - Daughter- Mary Beck (Jeff) White-Sutton of Durham, NC; Son- Thomas A. (Teresa) White of Round Oak, Grandchildren- Will and Ross White of Round Oak. Flowers accepted and those who wish to make memorial contributions may be made to Annie Armstrong Easter Offering - Care of First Baptist Church of Gordon. The Family would like to extend a special thanks to the Caregivers at Lynn Haven Nursing Home where Mrs. White lived since 2006, including- Cheryl, Benetta, Vanessa, Tamesia, Santrice, Banisha, Amanda, Jenny, Brenda, Debra, Christy, Caroldene, Lashona, and dear friend Mrs. Margie Homan.
