Mary Lee Young Smith of Hayti, Mo., left her earthly life behind Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Pemiscott Memorial Hospital.She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Bradford Smith; her sons, Tyler and Bob Smith; granddaughter, Mary Diana Williams; parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Young; brothers, William C. and J.C. Young; and sisters, Bertie Robertson, Estelle Richardson and Goldie Atkinson.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at German Funeral Home in Hayti, Mo., with Michael Gardener, grandson, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele, Mo. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today.Mary Lee is survived by her daughters, Delores Plunkett and husband, Leonard, Hayti, Mo., Rita Phethean, Birmingham, Ala., Frances Williams and husband, James, Florence, Ala., Stella Olive and husband, Delbert Sr., Muscle Shoals, Ala., and Maryln Curtis and husband, James, Florence, Ala. She is also survived by sisters, Opal Creekmore and husband, Terrell, Athens, Ala., and Elizabeth Robertson and husband, Alvin, Waterloo, Ala.; and brother, A.D. Young and wife, Mary-Katherine, Florence, Ala. She has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Lynn Plunkett, Tyler Williams, Caleb Curtis, Del Olive, Gatlin McClung, Logan Jenkins, Mitchell Olive, Cortney Gardener and Charlie Rape.She was a very strong and caring woman who will be missed by anyone who knew and loved her. She is now where no one walks alone.
